Epic weekend in Eastern Alps

Epic weekend in Eastern Alps - Your host - Jarek Wieczorek - taking off with his paraglider from Speikboden, South Tyrol / Alto Adige, The Alps, Italy

Four thousand registered flights during a single weekend! Almost a thousand flights over 100km. Eighty over 200km. And two world record beating triangle flights over 300km! Paragliding went crazy last weekend in the Eastern Alps. The cloud base was at 4500m / 15.000ft and you could takeoff as early as 9am for a twelve hour flight. I was lucky to take part in this flying bonanza. The otherworldly views of the Alps from up there will stay long with me. The lesson I learned: If you are going to spend any time flying your paraglider over 4000m / 13.000ft you better have good winter goretex gloves with you because it is way below freezing up there even with scorching summer heat in the valleys.

Please see more photos from this paragliding weekend in the Alps.
